17 years or older? Got your provisional license? Well start here. This is a complete course designed to get you through your theory test, teach you how to drive safely and correctly, pass your driving test, and on to Pass Plus if you want to. All instruction given is to the DSA syllabus. See how long it might take you to complete the course.
If you've already had some experience behind the wheel then your first lesson will be an assessment lesson designed to establish a starting point for your complete course with me.
Here's what you're going to learn in the complete course:
The first thing your instructor will do is perform an eyesight check and ask to see your provisional driving license.
Don't worry if you've never sat behind the wheel before, this course is designed to teach you everything you need to know in order to drive a car. We start off with familiarisation of the car's controls, then moving off and stopping. We show you how to steer the car correctly and then begin to introduce gear changing and clutch control. Once you have had some experience with this we begin to show you how to deal with junctions and sideroads.
At this point it is expected that you will have taken and passed your theory test, and all the help you need will be given to ensure that this happens. Remember you can not begin to book a driving test until the theory test is passed, and at this point you want to be thinking about when your driving test is going to be. We book it this soon because the waiting list is currently around 3-4 months.
Once you are at ease with these skills we will start learning how to do roundabouts, traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, and what to do when negotiating obstacles and parked cars. We will also introduce the reversing manouevres such as parking and turning the car around in the road.
When you are ready to move on, you will learn how to drive in the busier more complicated aspects of town driving, such as dual carriageways, one-way streets, and larger more complicated roundabouts.
Finally we will begin to prepare you for your test, by introducing you to the test routes and when you are ready - a mock driving test. When you are ready to take a driving test then we will ensure that is it arranged for you and booked in advance.
Your progress is monitored throughout and you will get to keep a record of this so that you can see how you are doing at all times.
